Enhanced Security in Prior Periods
Now you can restrict access to prior periods, effectively locking down even those prior months that are in an open fiscal year. You limit access in the Maintain Users window. For example, you may only wish to give your bookkeeper full access to prior periods.
Once you’ve turned on prior-period security, locked periods show up as locked (with a padlock icon) in the Change Accounting Period window. Restricted users can view prior period transactions, but they cannot make changes to them.
Integration with UPS
This feature is available only in Peachtree Complete Accounting and higher.
New to Peachtree 2005, the Integration with UPS feature allows you to register for UPS OnLine Tools and use the Shipments window to create shipments for packages you want to ship to customers, vendors, or employees. UPS will create estimates for packages, verify addresses, print shipping labels, and bill your account. In addition, Peachtree will track the shipment and automatically add the shipment costs of a shipment to an existing customer invoice to which the shipment is linked.
New Auto-Creation of Purchase Orders
As a new time-saving feature of Peachtree 2005, you can now set Peachtree up to automatically create purchase orders behind the scenes, based on current inventory needs. You set up auto-creation of purchase orders on the Ordering tab of the Inventory Item Defaults window. Choose whether you want to create POs automatically for drop-ship or non-drop-ship transactions—or both.
New Autofill Button
New to Peachtree 2005, the Autofill button is available on the toolbar of the Purchase Orders window. now, whenever you are creating a purchase order for a selected vendor, you can click the Autofill button to have Peachtree automatically add lines to the purchase order for any low-stock items that you routinely order from the currently selected vendor.
New Select for Purchase Orders Task
While the Purchase Orders task is geared to ordering from vendors one at a time, Select for Purchase Orders allows you to order inventory from multiple vendors at the same time. It’s a simple two-step process. First, on the Select for Purchase Orders–Filter Selection window, you enter criteria that let you filter the items you want to order. In case the filter includes items you don’t really want to order now, the Select for Purchase Orders window lets you choose the exact items you want to turn into POs. Once you do this, you can print or e-mail the orders to your vendors as desired.
New to Peachtree Premium Accounting
New Serialized Inventory
Starting with Release 2005, Peachtree will allow you to enter serialized inventory. Serialized items are typically big-ticket items (like computers, jewelry, and so on) or items that are required by law to have a serial number. Serial numbers offer a way for you to keep detailed records for individual items and allow you to calculate and track warranties. You can enter either serialized stock items or serialized assembly items.
New Departmentalized Financial Statements
You can set up your general ledger accounts in different segments that can represent departments, divisions, product lines, and so forth. Then you can quickly and easily produce financial statements based on any segment.
New Archive Option
You can now archive your company data in Peachtree. When you archive your company data, you are saving your data and financial statements so you can have access to that information when you need to refer to it for future use, such as providing your financial information for a tax audit. You can archive your company information at any time, and you also have archive as an option during the year-end process.
The archived company is an exact copy of your company, and while you can view transactions and print reports and financial statements (including any custom forms you created before you archived), the archived data is read-only. Therefore, you can’t add, modify, or delete records or transactions in the archived company. Whatever transactions existed in the company will also be saved within the archived company data and all user security settings are archived. Also, you can’t add archived data to your current open company.
